On September 21, 2023, within the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, a Round Table was held on the EU’s Jurisdictional Control of Competition Decisions, organized within the Center of Excellence in Competition Law of the Faculty of Law Osijek, Croatia.
Competition law is one of the main pillars and one of the main determining factors of EU integration. It is one of the main tools that stimulate innovation and long-term economic development. The harmonized application of competition law rules is one of the main advantages of successfully integrating candidate countries into the EU.
Thus, the purpose of this event is to gather competition law experts, public administration employees, judges and academics and to discuss relevant topics regarding the application of competition law in the EU and Moldova. During the event, the participants shared knowledge and ideas that are particularly relevant for the harmonization of the competition legislation of the Republic of Moldova with the EU competition legislation, as well as for the more effective application of the competition legislation in Moldova. A particular emphasis was placed on the judicial review of competition decisions and the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the EU.
The delegation from the Faculty of Law Osijek, Croatia also met with the rector, Alexandru Stratan, during which they discussed the opportunities for collaboration between both universities, including the prospect of signing a Partnership Agreement.
Speakers at the round table were prominent competition law experts (academics, practitioners and judges) from Croatia, Italy, Albania and Moldova.
This event is organized by the Center of Excellence in Competition Law of the Faculty of Law Osijek, Croatia in partnership with ASEM and in association with the Henri Capitant Association of Legal Culture.
